Vermont snow tubing requires little skill to harvest lots of thrill

The only question we have about snow tubing is, “Why did it take so long to come up with this?” The activity is simple, and a blast. Just hop onto an inflated tube and slide down the hill. Best of all there are now lifts to take you back up to do it all over again. This is great fun for little ones, as well as the over-grown kid in all of us.

Sharp Park

Sharp Park is a premier sliding hill. Kids have been sliding on Cobble Hill safely for years. Helmets are mandatory for children and recommended for adults. All sliding is free and at your own risk on your own equipment. Park has 16 children's helmets and 7 helmets for adults free of charge. The park offers snow tubes for rent at $10 for two hours. There is a warm barn with bathroom facilities, hot chocolate, hot and cold drinks and snacks and free wi-fi. Cobble Hill is a walk-up site (no towing facililties). Open: Weekends, 10 a.m.-dusk.

Grafton Ponds

Grafton Ponds is best known for its Nordic trail network, totaling 30 kilometers of skating and classic skiing through groomed fields and forests. In addition, there is another 30 kilometers of back country terrain. Snowshoeing facility is 15 kilometers of snowshoeing trails. Wine & Cheese snowshoe tours are open to the public. There is a separate 600-foot tubing run. Snow tubes are available for rental. Hours: Open daily, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Magic Mountain

Magic Mountain has 40 downhill trails, including two black diamonds, over 120 skiable acres of property with a vertical drop of 1,700 feet. Snow tubing is offered on the Alakazam Tubing Park, open weekends and school vacation periods. Guests must be at least 44 inches tall to tube.
